broadus

John A. Broadus (1827-1895) was the first professor of New Testament interpretation and homiletics at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and the second president of the school. Broadus served for years as pastor of the Baptist church in Charlottesville, VA. He authored an important commentary, The Gospel of Matthew, as well as a homiletics text, On the Preparation and Delivery of Sermons. He is best known in Baptist circles as an extraordinary powerful preacher of the gospel.
